Gheerulla Hall is the old hall on the corner Eumundi-Kenilworth Road and Moy Pocket Road, seven kilometres from Kenilworth. It is in one of the most picturesque areas of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, just a kilometre from the Mary River with views to the Kenilworth Bluff.
The hall was built in 1907 by local farmers using local timber. After several extensions it still remains an authentic rural Queensland hall with raw timber walls and exposed iron roof. It has a charming rustic appeal.
In the past it was the centre of the Gheerulla Community for all social occasions. However, Gheerulla Hall like most of the other rural halls became less important when better roads were built and entertainment preferences changed. In 2016 its lack of use, lack of interest in its future and deteriorated state almost resulted in its permanent closure.
A new committee has set about repairing the hall and reviving the hall for community use. A number of functions have been held to bring local people together. Neighbours have met for the first time. The hall repair work is well underway. This is the start of a new era for the old hall.
