Writing group next Wednesday

Hi folks,

We’re meeting at the same time and place:

11am, Wednesday, the 3rd of April
at Gheerulla Hall.
Free — optional gold coin donation to the Hall.

I was thinking of discussing Lord Raglan’s Hero Pattern, and whether it can be useful to us as writers.

Bring anything you wrote that you might want to read out for feedback. Please don’t feel that you need to, though; it’s entirely voluntary.

Anybody who is interested is welcome.

I’ll bring coffee, tea, cocoa, cup-a-soup, and perhaps potato crisps, maybe olives, or something more healthy if I can think of it. (Note that I pay for these out of my own pocket, not from the hall donations. The donations go to Gheerulla Hall itself.)

Gheerulla Hall AGM on Friday at 5pm

Hi All

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is this Friday afternoon 29th of March, about 5pm. The hall is progressing well. Lots of things are happening, but for the momentum to continue the workload needs to be redistributed . The committee only meets four times  a year. Most decisions are made by email .

Be a part of this historic tradition!!  There will be a BBQ afterwards so bring your sossies or tofu and we’ll have a bit of nosh and community group hug.

Download nomination forms for the committee. Or if you can’t open the form just give me (Kathy) the details and I’ll fill it in and you can sign on the night.  Of course just like vampires, we do love a bit of new blood….  so feel free to bring along a few friends.  One has to pay one’s membership by the night to be considered a financial member but you can pay on the night so you’re entitled to vote.  We don’t gerrymander here. Or have Russian input.  And no political party affiliations!!!!  Or campaigning!  You’ll have enough of that in May.

See you on Friday.

Gheerulla Tennis Club Free Family Fun Tennis morning

For those of you who may not be aware, the Gheerulla Tennis Club is holding a Free Family Fun Tennis morning this coming Sunday, 24 March from 9 am – 12 noon.

We will have two coaches at the Club – Rob Schmitt, who coaches our Junior members on Tuesday afternoons and Nick Todorov who is the Sunshine Coast Participation Leader for Tennis Queensland. Rob will be organising fun tennis activities for the younger players and Nick will be doing some cardio fit tennis and a small round robin for the adults. We will have a tennis ball machine and Inflatible Speed Machine on site, as well as free giveaways and prizes. Morning tea, drinks and a sausage sizzle will be provided for anyone attending.

Anyone interested is welcome to attend, and we are looking forward to a fun, free event for the local and surrounding community.

Computer help & uplifting talks

Hi folks,

This Friday, at 10am we have Computer Help at the hall. Bring along your problems and we’ll see if we can solve them, or help with alternatives. If you don’t understand something we might be able to help there too.

After that, at 11am, we’ll show some Uplifting Talks. Did you know, despite what you’re told on the irresponsible “news” media, this is the most peaceful time in history? Did you know rates of violent crimes have been declining for hundreds of years? We all have easier access to more knowledge now than royalty did just decades ago. We live longer and more healthily than ever before. Are you worried about robots, wars, unemployment, new diseases? Things are actually MUCH better than you might think.

Both these sessions are free. An optional gold coin donation to the hall is appreciated.

(NOTE: donations go to hall maintenance, not to me. I provide snacks out of my own pocket. If you want to bring snacks you’re most welcome to do so, though you’re not obliged to.)
