Gheerulla Tennis Club Free Family Fun Tennis morning

For those of you who may not be aware, the Gheerulla Tennis Club is holding a Free Family Fun Tennis morning this coming Sunday, 24 March from 9 am – 12 noon.

We will have two coaches at the Club – Rob Schmitt, who coaches our Junior members on Tuesday afternoons and Nick Todorov who is the Sunshine Coast Participation Leader for Tennis Queensland. Rob will be organising fun tennis activities for the younger players and Nick will be doing some cardio fit tennis and a small round robin for the adults. We will have a tennis ball machine and Inflatible Speed Machine on site, as well as free giveaways and prizes. Morning tea, drinks and a sausage sizzle will be provided for anyone attending.

Anyone interested is welcome to attend, and we are looking forward to a fun, free event for the local and surrounding community.

Computer Help and Uplifting talks on Friday

Hi Folks,

There will be a Computer Help session at Gheerulla Hall at 10am this Friday 15th February (the 3rd Friday of each month), followed by Uplifting Talks at 11am (why the common belief that everything is getting worse is mistaken).

Both sessions are free (though I encourage you to make a gold coin donation to Gheerulla Hall for giving us the space for this — donations go to the hall, not to me).

I’ve recently spent a while removing some nasty software from a cheap PendoPad tablet computer I bought at Nambour Post Office. I’ll show you how to remove such things and what to look out for. If you bring along your tablet we can check to see if it has any malware on it, and remove it.

For the uplifting talks I was thinking of showing a short video on how we’ve solved the problem of the population explosion and how cheap robots in space can save our planet… and how they already are.

I’ll bring coffee, tea, cocoa, cup-a-soup, and some light snacks.

You bring whatever you want and whoever you want.

QLD Women’s Day at Gheerulla Hall

Let’s Celebrate Queensland Women’s Day at Gheerulla Hall

This year the theme for Queensland Women’s Day is “Invest in Women, Invest in the Future”. By improving the financial literacy and capability of women, we improve the economic security of them, their families, and the wider community. By understanding financial planning, managing debt, creating a budget, and other money management topics, women are better equipped to make informed decisions.

As part of this year’s Queensland Government Women’s Day initiative, Gheerulla Hall will be hosting a

Forum on Financial Literacy for Women
commencing at 10am, 8th March.

The panel consisting of three people with experience in financial management and financial education will answer questions, discuss issues, listen to stories and advise where possible. We’ve all heard stories about STD (sexually transmitted debt) when a partnership breaks up. The forum will not be boring.

Women working on farms and small businesses while supporting their families should have easy access to financial services. Also, women in retirement often have financial difficulties and need help accessing support. What about the widows with little knowledge of financial management or investments left in very stressful situations as they try to access bank accounts?

We hope the forum will offer all participants a safe place to talk about money issues and find some answers to questions. Let’s see if we can improve women’s knowledge of money matters.

Gheerulla Hall and Recreation Association Inc. acknowledges and appreciates the Queensland Government’s financial support to conduct this Financial Literacy Forum for Women on Queensland Women’s Day.

We’re still accepting donations of new, second-hand but good quality goods. So clean out your cupboards of those things you don’t use, presents you’ve received donkeys years ago, that bit of small furniture you keep tripping over, or make a cake or slice. Pollyanna’s occasional update

Well darlings just a note to let you know that after yoga tomorrow (Saturday approx 11.00 am) the Reiki girls will be having a cuppa at the Hall and offering to give anyone who wants to try Reiki a little free session. Free I think but you could of course always pop a penny in the jar cos that’s how things work.

And you also need to keep in mind the upcoming Annual Gheerulla Hall Cent Auction of world renown. More details to follow but mark the date Friday 7 December with Dennis’ famous sos sizzle kicking off the proceedings at 5 and cent sale from 6 pm. All donations gratefully accepted.

And if this sounds a little breathless it’s because I appear to have lost the comma on my keyboard somehow.

Computer Help and Uplifting Talks & Videos

Don’t forget that we’re having the Computer Help session at 10am on Friday morning, then after that, at 11am we’ll see some Uplifting Talks and Videos.

These sessions are FREE.
(I encourage an optional gold coin donation to the hall, though)

Computer Help

Do you have some problem with your desktop computer, tablet, or phone?
I’ll attempt to solve it for you.
Do you want to learn how best to use your computer? Did you know you can use high quality free software to do most things on your computer. Do you want to know more about how a computer works? Do you want to find out how to fix a computer when it gives problems?

Uplifting Talks and Videos

Are you worried that the world is getting worse? Does all the depressing news on the TV, radio, and newspaper almost drive you to tears? Do you fear that the world is getting more violent and that terrorists are endangering our society?

Well, I have good news. Things have been getting better for hundreds of years, and though it might not seem like it, we live in the most peaceful time in history, with starvation, disease, and violent crime decreasing worldwide, as people become more moral and more caring of each other. Sounds delusional, doesn’t it? Well, I have the facts to back it up. Come along and see.

This is not a religious pitch and I’m not selling anything. It upsets me that people aren’t told how dramatically things are improving. I think we all need to know. It is getting remarkably better.
