Sunday 28 July 9:30am at the hall
Following last year’s successful planting of amenity trees on National Tree Day, we’ve decided to do it again to finish off the grounds. We have trees. We have equipment. We have dug holes. We have fertilizer and water-holding stuff. Dave has made a garden bed. Everything else will be provided. Now all we need is YOU! Yes, you have the opportunity to make a contribution to the future of the planet by sticking a tree back in the ground at the Hall. Mother Earth will bless you for it, and the faeries and dryads and hamadryads will materialize and give good cosmic energies to the place. You may even see unicorns. Then bring your sausie or vegan pattie and have a BBQ. There may be cake. Or not. But there will be tea and coffee!
Hi all. Just a reminder that yoga with Kirrilee starts this Saturday, and will run for 4 weeks as a trial to see if there is enough need for continuing classes. The classes are gentle and suitable for beginners too.
Yes, yoga lovers, we will have a trial class this Saturday 6 July, at 9 am, with Kirrilee at the Hall, $15 per person. Find your mats, blocks, loose clothes and turn up. Your body will love you. And you can have some input into classes for the future.
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is this Friday afternoon 29th of March, about 5pm. The hall is progressing well. Lots of things are happening, but for the momentum to continue the workload needs to be redistributed . The committee only meets four times a year. Most decisions are made by email .
Be a part of this historic tradition!! There will be a BBQ afterwards so bring your sossies or tofu and we’ll have a bit of nosh and community group hug.
Download nomination forms for the committee. Or if you can’t open the form just give me (Kathy) the details and I’ll fill it in and you can sign on the night. Of course just like vampires, we do love a bit of new blood…. so feel free to bring along a few friends. One has to pay one’s membership by the night to be considered a financial member but you can pay on the night so you’re entitled to vote. We don’t gerrymander here. Or have Russian input. And no political party affiliations!!!! Or campaigning! You’ll have enough of that in May.
See you on Friday.
Some of you lovely members have already crossed my palm with folding stuff, and I have receipts writ for you. For those of you who like formal reminders, attached is an invoice (for a mere $10 per person) to stay financial for this year. And it gives you the right to vote. We accept most forms of monetary equivalence – cash, cheque, direct deposit, or just plain gold.
You can pay on-line to:

Or give us cash when you come to the Working Bee!!
Saturday March 2 from 8.30 am – Working bee at Hall
As you know we have to occasionally spruce up the Hall, and we cleverly do this especially prior to a public even so we look our best, or when we are going to have visiting dignitaries. and both are happening on QWW Day. Hence the working bee this Saturday 2 March. And to show how organised we are we have a list of jobs. You can put your hand up for your preferred (yeah, everyone wants the easy stuff and no-one wants the toilets). Even an hour or so can be a contribution: and such delightful and scintillating company!! Forget Married at First Sight – here you may meet your True Love!. So here goes:
- Grounds: whipper snipping fenceline; removing rubbish under Hall to the dump; weeding around plants; maybe mowing; and/or fixing washout inn driveway.
- Inside: cleaning kitchen; sweeping hall floor and maybe washing; tidying up the books!! and for the handymen putting up some blinds on the western window and back porch.
For your efforts you will be rewarded with a cup of tea. Or a sausage at the AGM BBQ and an honourable mention. And for the workaholics you can always help out again on Thursday when we set up for QWW.
So. Additional equipment like whippersnippers, trailers (for the junk under the Hall and the pile of old wood at the back) etc is always welcome. Let us know if you’re coming if possible either via email (email@example.com) or to 0481129527. I wait with bated breath for your reply.
Oooo Sweetings! I’m excited! So MUCH to tell you all! Where to begin?
Well first of all, to remain a member of this elite group, and keep receiving these elegant literary missives, one must renew one’s membership. $10 per person per year. Bargain. You can pay on-line to:

Friday 29 March from 5.00 pm BBQ and AGM. Yes for all those who just LOVE committees, or else have aspirations for a career in politics, this is where those aspirations begin and are nurtured! Look out ScoMo! Nominations will be invited beforehand, and the more people we have the more FUN we can create. Would be great to have a Publicity/media Officer, someone less boring than me.
Till the next missive..
Yes, it’s that day in December that so many of you are waiting for!! And I don’t mean Christmas! Yes, it’s the much awaited,
GHEERULLA HALL ANNUAL
Friday 7th December 2018
So, empty the coin jar, throw in a few folding ones, and chuff off to the Hall for this signature event. Favoured by celebrities and locals alike, the Cent Sale has to be experienced to believed.
Kick off the evening with a sausage sizzle from our resident BBQ King, Dennis at 5 pm, and then you have an hour to rip up your tickets before the Sale starts at 6pm. Lets not let all the prizes go to travellers from far away this time!! Tea and coffee and bikkies available too. If you don’t know how it works, come along and learn. I’ll teach you.
We’re still accepting donations of new, second-hand but good quality goods. So clean out your cupboards of those things you don’t use, presents you’ve received donkeys years ago, that bit of small furniture you keep tripping over, or make a cake or slice. Goods can be delivered to the Hall anytime Friday. Or come along and be a runner. Any one available to help set up,or be a runner, (or MC), let me know.
See you Friday.
Well darlings just a note to let you know that after yoga tomorrow (Saturday approx 11.00 am) the Reiki girls will be having a cuppa at the Hall and offering to give anyone who wants to try Reiki a little free session. Free I think but you could of course always pop a penny in the jar cos that’s how things work.
And you also need to keep in mind the upcoming Annual Gheerulla Hall Cent Auction of world renown. More details to follow but mark the date Friday 7 December with Dennis’ famous sos sizzle kicking off the proceedings at 5 and cent sale from 6 pm. All donations gratefully accepted.
And if this sounds a little breathless it’s because I appear to have lost the comma on my keyboard somehow.
